OUR BIRTH

Read below how a spontaneous initiative developed into a full-fledged foundation and what we plan to do in the future!

From initiative to foundation

In April 2019, the Westland Animal Actions Team was established as an active volunteer group. The team originated from the Facebook groups 'Pets missing/found in the Westland region' and 'Pets missing/found in Hoek van Holland', because there was an increasing demand for types of help where the animal ambulance was not a solution, such as chip checking of found animals and searching for missing pets on the spot.

In August 2020, the unique opportunity presented itself to rent a space in the future in the Westland Animal Shelter Center (DOCW). This is an initiative of a foundation to realize a single center where all animals in need of help in Westland are centrally cared for. At the moment there is (almost) no childcare facilities in the municipality. Our wish to start our own animal ambulance and to be able to further develop ourselves is thus fulfilled!

The number of requests for help increased so quickly that on September 28, 2020 the overarching Foundation Team Dierenhulp Westland eo was established. The foundation consists of the following parts:

- Team Animal Actions Westland

- Team Animal Ambulance Westland (will be active in the future)

- Westland Animal Care Team (will be active in the future)

Extensions in other areas are possible.

Behind the scenes we are busy preparing for the future.

Until the DOCW is in place, only the Westland Animal Action Team part will be active, in collaboration with regional animal organizations.

What we now offer include:

- help finding a missing pet

- checking a pet or stray animal found for the presence of a chip

- help in catching domestic and wild animals when needed

- making (catching) material available

Because our team members are spread over the Westland / Hoek van Holland region, we can come to the rescue in a short time.
